A collective of experienced and diverse business people sharing the unique environment of Cinderella House. Members gather at the House on a regular basis to discuss key world, economic and technological trends and their implications for society and business, with an emphasis on innovation and new and emerging business models.

Why the name Cinderella?

Although stories are essential to who we are, Cinderella’s namesake is no fairytale princess, but rather a goldmine. In the late 19th century, on a farm in South Africa called Leeupoort (“Lion’s Pass”), the Cinderella Deep Gold Mine attracted entrepreneurs and trailblazers from all walks of life, eager to explore its possibilities. Importantly, “cinders” is an ancient word. Cinders are the remains of a fire, a reminder of a symbolic place around which people have long gathered to cook, drink and tell stories.

In much the same way, Cinderella House is a meeting place for storytelling, facilitated by the Partners and supporting entrepreneurs, businesses, and the Members themselves. The focus is on helping each other be better. It embodies the spirit of UBUNTU, a wonderful African expression that describes a feeling of interconnectedness, humanity and family – “I Am Because We Are.” A person with UBUNTU is open and available to others, affirming of others and is inspired by others. The core values of Cinderella are: Respect, Dignity, Compassion, Humanity and Teamwork.
